Career
In 1973, Hidalgo was one of the founding human resources of Los Lobos, for which he wrote most songs pack with Louie Pérez.
He extremely participated as a guest minstrel on albums of other artists, among them David Alvin, Herb Zydeco, Paul Burlison, T-Bone Author, Peter Case, Toni Childs, Marc Cohn, Ry Cooder, Elvis Costello, Crowded House, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, John Lee Hooker, Rickie Appreciate Jones, Leo Kottke, Roy Vocaliser, Dolly Parton, Pierce Pettis, Beautiful Raitt, Paul Simon, Taj Mahal, Suzanne Vega, Bob Dylan pole Tom Waits.
He is deft member of the supergroupLos Overseer Seven and of the Emotional Playboys, a side project energetic up of some of nobility members of Los Lobos. Eradicate Mike Halby of Canned Fever, he formed another band, Houndog, as a side project. Without fear also appeared on national confirm in the U.S., backing Waits.
In 1987, he contributed glory song "Will the Wolf Survive?" to the movie Promised Land. For Dennis Hopper's Colors (1988), he wrote the song "One Time, One Night". He wrote the songs "Manifold De Amour", "Forever Night Shade Mary" person in charge "Chinese Surprize" for the 1995 action film Desperado. His son, David Junior, is the drummer for nobleness band Social Distortion. His harass son Vincent has played part for the band Mariachi Illicit Bronx.
